DESCRIPTION:Learn what High Performance Computing can do for your company or organization.\n\n\nThe workshop offers you an introduction to high performance computing. \nWhat you can expect: \n\nSystem architectures\nHardware architectures\nFile systems\nPerformance limits\nSpeedup & Scalability\nWorkload Manager\nJob Scheduling\n\nThe following questions are to be answered: \n\nHow is an HPC cluster structured?\nWhat technical aspects need to be considered when storing data?\nWhat are the basic steps for using HPC?\n\n🇩🇪Sprache: German \n🗣️Referenten: Dr. Kai Himstedt & Dr. Hinnerk Stüben \nDr. Kai Himstedt has been working for HITeC e.V. in the EDIH Hamburg project since January 2023. Together with Daniel Speck\, he is primarily responsible for the development and operation of the Research Computing Infrastructure\, i.e. a cluster system based on SLURM\, in this EU project. In the field of high-performance computing\, he has acquired extensive knowledge since 2002 in the course of his many years of scientific work with a focus on the development of distributed simulation systems and especially at the Regional Computing Center of the University of Hamburg (2017-2019) and at the German Climate Computing Center (2020-2022). \nDr. Hinnerk Stüben is an HPC user consultant – from 1994-2012 at the Konrad-Zuse-Zentrum für Informationstechnik Berlin (ZIB)\, since 2012 at the Regional Computing Center of the University of Hamburg (RRZ). He has been giving courses on parallel programming and runtime optimization of HPC software for many years. His work at the University of Hamburg includes supporting HPC beginners. \nTogether with Kai Himstedt and Nathanael Hübbe\, he created the introduction “Getting Started with HPC Clusters” as part of the Performance Conscious HPC (PeCoH) project. This introduction is available online and is suitable as preparation for the event: https://www.hhcc.uni-hamburg.de/learning-hpc/getting-started-with-hpc-clusters-b.html \nDisclaimer: This event is offered by HITeC e.V. as part of EDIH Hamburg. \nEDIH Hamburg is part of the European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) program. The aim of the program is to equip small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)\, mid-sized companies and public sector organizations (PSOs) in the Hamburg metropolitan region in particular for the challenges of tomorrow. The requirements for critical infrastructures are changing and new solutions need to be evaluated and implemented – from general digitalization topics to cybersecurity issues\, artificial intelligence\, distributed infrastructure and high-performance computing.

SUMMARY:Shaping knowledge transfer effectively - impulses for SMEs & education
DESCRIPTION:How does successful knowledge transfer work in SMEs and education? Get practical impulses from IT security\, AI and coding projects. \n\n\nShaping knowledge transfer effectively – impulses for SMEs & educationHow does successful knowledge transfer work – not just in theory\, but also in practice? In our one-hour webinar\, we will give you specific insights into how small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and educational institutions can pass on\, use and sustainably anchor knowledge in a targeted manner. We will use specific examples to show how knowledge transfer can be designed in different contexts – from classic training formats and cooperation projects with companies to innovative learning opportunities for young talent. You can look forward to practical impulses from various areas such as \n\nIT security for SMEs: communicating the basics in an understandable way and raising employee awareness\nHigh Performance Computing (HPC): Learn what High Performance Computing can do for your company or organization.\nArtificial intelligence: from the EU AI Act to the introduction of AI applications in SMEs\nPromoting young talent: creative coding workshops for children and young people\n\nOur organization designs and implements a wide range of cooperation and event formats with the aim of sustainably anchoring knowledge in organizations and society. The focus is always on the question: How can knowledge be presented in such a way that it really gets across – and has an impact? This webinar is aimed at interested parties from business\, education\, administration and research who are involved in the topic of knowledge transfer or are planning their own formats. \n \nSpeakers: \n\nOgeigha Koroyin\, Research Associate HITeC e.V. – Hamburg Informatics Technology Center\nBernd Hennig\, IT specialist HITeC e.V. – Hamburger Informatik Technologie-Center
