ARIC Brown Bag: Healthcare in the Age of AI: From Hype to Clinical Reality

Lecture language: English

AI is rapidly becoming capable of answering medical questions, interpreting complex information, and matching or exceeding expert performance on selected benchmarks—but turning these capabilities into useful clinical systems is a very different challenge. This talk will examine the gap between impressive AI demonstrations and real-world healthcare, including the challenges of fragmented patient data, longitudinal reasoning, reliability, clinical integration, and demonstrating actual value. I’ll also discuss where the next generation of medical AI might be headed and share some of the lessons we’re learning as we build Dr.MaxHealth.

Dr. Maksym Kitsera is a scientist and entrepreneur working at the intersection of biomedical research and artificial intelligence. He holds a Ph.D. in molecular microbiology and previously worked as a virologist at the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine, focusing on emerging infectious diseases. He is now co-founder and CEO of Dr.MaxHealth, a Hamburg-based startup developing medical AI for longitudinal clinical intelligence.
