Advancing SMEs, mid-caps public sector administration in Metropolitan Hamburg

Welcome to the EDIH for Urban Interconnected Supply and Value Ecosystems, in short EDIH4UrbanSAVE, in Hamburg. We are proud to be part of the European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) program, a program co-funded by the European Union aiming at building up digital competitiveness all over Europe.

We specifically aim at equipping small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), mid-caps as well public sector administrations (PSO) in the Hamburg metropolitan area for tomorrow’s challenges. Requirements for critical infrastructure are changing as we speak, and new solutions must be evaluated and implemented – ranging from general digitalization topics, matters of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, distributed infrastructure, or high-performance computing.

Hamburg, globally renowned not only for being an important European logistics and business location as well as an award-winning “Smart City”, offers both, the competencies as well as the network, to address these challenges. Our group of 6 local partners, including academia, craft, industry hubs as well as technological organizations, offer a wide range of services to our target group – and thus strengthen the innovation ecosystem in a targeted & efficient manner.

Our offers have been specifically developed to be aligned economic & geographic conditions of metropolitan Hamburg, as well as with the Smart Specialization and Regional Innovation Strategy (RIS3).

We are grateful to be part of this initiative.  In addition, the EDIH Hamburg is co-funded by the IFB Hamburg (link), the DE HUB Program (link) and the Mittelstand-Digital Zentrum Hamburg (link), both supported by the by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (link).

Innovation Ecosystem

Strengthen the local ecosystem, e.g . by enabling know how transfer between experts, promoting relevant services, developing technology use cases, scouting & matchmaking processes, as well as promoting joint projects – in short: Building up & supporting the overall local innovation community. Test before Invest

Facilitating the pathway to technology, e.g. by developing checkups for technologies such as AI, RPA, Cloud, Big Data, IoT, Cyber Security or High Performance Computing, as well as organizing workshops or providing access to Tech Labs and rapid prototyping environments. Additionally supporting in building up skills in agile working methods. More information can be found here.

Skills & Training

Offering a wide range of formats regarding key technologies of digital transformation, with special focus on logistics, crafts and industry sectors: AI, HPC, Cloud, Big Data etc. These will be offered by all of our partners and will come in many shapes – see here for more details.

Support to Find Invest

Establishing access to finance for SME & public services from regional, federal & EU (public & private) sources – basically supporting SMEs in investment matchmaking and increasing investment readiness, as well as supporting companies in the creation of innovation / R&D project proposals.
