On June 3, 2025, the AIRE Club Brussels hosted an event dedicated to exploring Europe’s strategic role in global AI development, with a strong emphasis on collaboration and human-centered approaches to artificial intelligence. Organized by AIRE (AI & Robotics Estonia) in partnership with the Estonian Research Council Brussels Office, the event took place at the Estonian Embassy in Brussels.
The keynote speakers included Dr. Lucilla Sioli from the EU AI Office and Professor Tiit Land from TalTech. Both emphasized the crucial importance of partnerships between science and industry for technological progress. Other high-level participants included Helen Kaljuläte, the Estonian Ambassador to Belgium, and Dr. Signe Ratso from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Development.
The panel discussion on “From Discovery to Impact – Scaling Academic Knowledge for Industrial Success” featured Dr. Florian Vogt, Innovation Director at ARIC Hamburg, as well as Federico Menna, CEO of EIT Digital, Ursel Velve, CEO of the Estonian Business and Innovation Agency (EIS), and Lise-Ann Sheahan, Senior Program Manager at Irish Manufacturing Research, FactoryXChange. Together, the group of high-level experts discussed how academic findings can be effectively used and integrated into industrial solutions.
Several showcase projects and convincing success stories from the field were presented to the participants.
