Hamburg EDIH’s services are tailored to the needs of a wide range of economic sectors, including logistics, transportation, aviation, shipping, services, crafts and food. As the region is characterized by the diversity of local industries, this approach is crucial to ensure that the digital transformation takes place across the board and is not limited to selected sectors.
As a diverse mix of economic sectors helps to make a region more competitive and resilient to industry-specific economic shocks, we expect positive effects on the competitiveness and resilience of the Hamburg metropolitan region.
To ensure customized services, we have divided our offering into four areas to which each of our six partners contributes their specific expertise.
Are you interested in a service? Please contact us via the contact page or send us an e-mail directly – we will be happy to explain our offer to you as soon as possible.
The EDIH partners offer a variety of formats to support SMEs, medium-sized companies and public administration in their digitalization and to break down barriers: From small lecture formats on technologies such as AR, VR, AI or cybersecurity to large events in the field of quantum technology, we cover a broad portfolio of relevant topics.
In addition to traditional information events, our partners also offer targeted workshop formats that can be held in groups of different sizes: From the development of digitalization strategies in the skilled trades or for SMEs, topics such as sustainability or resilience in supply chains, Work 4.0, IoT, cybersecurity or artificial intelligence can be addressed. Design thinking workshops or “Lego Serious Play” are also part of the offer.
Companies or public authorities often lack an idea of what is theoretically possible and practically feasible. This is where our partners offer access to demonstrators in which digital technologies are shown using practical case studies: The examples range from software and hardware to the practical application of artificial intelligence or the use of cyber-physical systems or even modern data analysis. Topics such as carbon accounting and the use of a distributed ledger are also covered.
A broad external partner network also provides access to Tech Labs, both via the European EDIH network and via local partners.
The“Future Tech Check-up” provides you with a comprehensive overview and assessment of the technologies you already use to identify untapped potential and uncover opportunities for innovation and efficiency gains. With our team of EDIH experts, we help you to make the most of your technological resources and strengthen your competitiveness in the market. You also get an overview of how your company or PSO (Public Sector Organization) compares to other companies or PSOs in your industry.
Identify new opportunities and revolutionize your institution with innovative use cases. Our experienced EDIH experts will help you concretize your ideas and take the first step towards a practical solution. As an innovation hub for small and medium-sized enterprises, startups and public institutions, we understand your unique challenges and give you the tools to realize your full potential. We work with you to develop and design your use case to meet your specific requirements. From brainstorming to conception, we accompany you through the entire process to implementation.
The EDIH “Joint -Proof -of Concept” service helps you to turn your vision or use case into reality. We offer you the opportunity to validate your innovative ideas, minimize risks and exploit the full potential of your project before you make any major investments. Our experienced EDIH experts develop a customized concept and create prototypes that bring your ideas to life.
This service offers you a modern and powerful computing infrastructure for carrying out your experiments in a secure environment. We provide you with the necessary computing resources so that you can avoid high investment costs for expensive hardware and infrastructure.
Our dedicated team of EDIH experts is at your disposal for all questions and problems. In this way, we ensure that your experiments lead to the desired findings and results and that you can make optimum use of our Research Computing Infrastructures (RCI).

Quantum computing promises a fundamental computing advantage over conventional hardware for certain problem classes, particularly in combinatorial optimization problems (logistics, production planning, resource allocation) and in physical and chemical simulations (material development, drug development, molecular modelling). Whether your specific application can already benefit from quantum algorithms today or will become relevant in the medium term can often only be clarified through a structured analysis.
In cooperation with Hamburg Quantum Innovation Capital (hqic), the state initiative for quantum technologies, EDIH Hamburg offers a low-threshold initial consultation and, if required, arranges and accompanies access to in-depth technology analyses for your specific use case and accompanies you all the way to access to quantum hardware of real systems.

Neuromorphic processor architectures, inspired by the event-driven information processing of biological neural networks, offer decisive advantages over traditional AI chips in terms of energy efficiency and latency. This is particularly relevant for edge applications: sensor-based processing, autonomous systems and real-time inference under severe resource constraints. The first commercial solutions are available and the market is developing rapidly.
EDIH Hamburg offers companies and institutions a structured introduction to this field of technology – with expert support and embedded in the local network of relevant players. For practical access to the technology, test access to a dynamic vision camera with neuromorphic on-chip processing from SynSense is currently in preparation (available shortly).

As part of a brief consultation, our partners can determine the needs of companies and work with them to develop a strategy for financing or promoting projects: Is financing via investors more suitable for the plans or does third-party funding, for example, make more sense – and what are the advantages and disadvantages of each?

The project proposal writing service helps you to create a convincing and professional project proposal that is suitable for a funding line. Our experienced team will help you to communicate your idea clearly and appropriately for the funding line, identify potential project partners, define work packages and calculate the budget.
The project proposal writing service helps you to create a convincing and professional project proposal that is suitable for a funding line. Our experienced team will help you to communicate your idea clearly and appropriately for the funding line, identify potential project partners, define work packages and calculate the budget.
We support you in identifying suitable funding and financing instruments – depending on your needs, we can also establish connections with relevant companies and individuals. Various pitch & matching events are also organized.
We organize a series of important technology events that cover technologies from AI to quantum or forums for the exchange of innovation. In addition, so-called Communities of Practice or Joint Innovation Circles are part of the EDIH offering, in which in-depth expertise on individual topics is built up and shared with the public.
We facilitate the coming together of different players, from established companies to newly founded start-ups. To this end, we also provide a physical location where events can be held or where exchange in general can be promoted & innovation can be facilitated.
An essential component of the EDIH program is the exchange across local borders in order to strengthen pan-European competitiveness and build a robust distributed infrastructure. In addition to regular exchanges by the consortium itself, delegation trips will also take place for this purpose.
