On June 3, 2025, AIRE Club Brussels hosted an important meeting on Europe’s strategic role in global AI development with a focus on collaboration and human-centric approaches in the field of artificial intelligence. The event was organized by AIRE (AI & Robotics Estonia) in cooperation with the Brussels office of the Estonian Research Council and took place at the Estonian Embassy in Brussels.
Keynote speakers included Dr. Lucilla Sioli from the EU AI Office and Professor Tiit Land from TalTech. Both emphasized the crucial importance of partnerships between science and industry for technological progress. Other high-level participants included Helen Kaljuläte, the Estonian Ambassador to Belgium, and Dr. Signe Ratso from the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Research and Development.
The panel discussion on “From Discovery to Impact – Scaling Academic Knowledge for Industrial Success” featured Dr. Florian Vogt, Innovation Director at ARIC Hamburg, as well as Federico Menna, CEO of EIT Digital, Ursel Velve, CEO of the Estonian Business and Innovation Agency (EIS), and Lise-Ann Sheahan, Senior Program Manager at Irish Manufacturing Research, FactoryXChange. Together, the group of high-level experts discussed how academic findings can be effectively used and integrated into industrial solutions.
Several showcase projects and convincing success stories from the field were presented to the participants.
